1970 Austin Mini 1275 GT – The Beauty that Sleeps

The first Classic Car Auctions sale of the year will take place at The Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show in NEC, Birmingham on March 25th and 26th. CCA will be featuring a one- owner car, a dusty Mini 1275 GT with just 11,836 miles on it which has been stored for 33 years, with an estimated value of £10,000 to £12,000. This garage find is sure to excite Mini enthusiasts, as this iconic British car becomes roadworthy again. The Mini was restyled in the 1970s to feature a boxier front end with a full width grille and larger headlights. The new model was sold in two trim levels, the Mini Clubman and the Mini 1275 GT. The new GT had a 1,275 cc four-cylinder A-Series engine, a close-ratio, four-speed manual gearbox, 10-inch Rostyle alloy wheels and 7.5-inch Cooper ‘S’ disc brakes. This example of the Mini 1275 GT is finished in Bronze Yellow over Black Vinyl and was built in 1970. It has an indicated mileage of 11,836, a tax disc expiring in June 1990, and stickers indicating that the next service is at 13,438 miles. Richard Greenhalgh, who sourced the car for CCA, commented that the bodywork and interior of the car remain in good condition, but the engine bay will require work. Interested buyers can attend the NEC and inspect the vehicle to assess any necessary work themselves. The car comes with its original passport to service and original tool kit for auction.
