Lexus is launching the seventh generation of its popular ES luxury sedan for the 2022 model year, complete with new styling, technology, and performance features. The 2022 ES will be available in both gas and hybrid variants, with the exciting addition of the F Sport package for hybrid buyers for the first time.
While the exterior of the car has been given only minimal updates such as a new grille, new LED headlights, a fresh color, and a new wheel design, the interior has been vastly improved, providing the most impressive upgrades. As standard, all trims of the car will now come with the new Safety System 2.5, which uses front-facing cameras and a millimeter-wave radar system to accurately detect obstacles and respond accordingly.
The previous generation of the Lexus ES was awarded a Top Safety Pick+ award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The base model of the new ES will feature a 203-hp 2.5-liter inline-4 engine, with the ES 350 boasting a 302-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine, and the top-of-the-range ES 300h offering a 215hp 2.5-liter inline-4-based hybrid setup. Front-wheel drive comes as standard, with all-wheel drive only available in the ES 250.
The release date for the car is expected to be in fall 2021, with pricing and option availability to be confirmed closer to the time.
