Auction of Classic Cars from Recluse’s Large Barn Find Collection, Featuring a 1953 Mercedes, Aston Martins, and Ferraris.

An impressive classic car collection with over 230 cars, including a 1953 Mercedes, Aston Martins, and Ferraris, is set to be auctioned off after being discovered in two barns in the Netherlands. The collection, worth millions, belonged to a businessman named Ad Palmen who accumulated the vehicles over 40 years. Palmen, who has been diagnosed with dementia, was moved to a care home, leaving the cars to collect dust. The fleet of vehicles, still in prime condition, includes a Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America worth over £600,000 and a Mercedes W188 300S Roadster worth £440,000. The auction will be held on May 19th by Gallery Aaldering in Brummen. Although little is known about Palmen and how he amassed the cars, it’s speculated that the public will never know since he is too ill to speak. Nico Aaldering, the auctioneer, said that it’s unlikely people will see a collection of this caliber and condition in their lifetime.

  1. I have never seen such an impressive classic car collection. The auctioneer is right – it is unlikely people will see a collection of this caliber and condition in their lifetime.

  2. I don’t have a personal story related to this topic, but I think it’s really cool that this man had such an impressive car collection. I also think it’s sad that he is now suffering from dementia and won’t be able to enjoy his cars anymore. I hope that the people who end up buying his cars will appreciate them and take good care of them.

  3. I have never been an impressive classic car collector, nor do I have any desire to be one. I do, however, think it’s impressive that someone was able to collect over 230 classic cars. I can only imagine how much money and effort it took to amass such a collection. I also find it sad that the man who collected these cars is now suffering from dementia and will likely never be able to enjoy them again.

  4. I have a personal connection to this story as my grandfather was diagnosed with dementia a few years ago and my family has had to make some tough decisions regarding his care. It’s hard to see someone you love go through something like this, especially when they are no longer able to communicate or take care of themselves. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for Palmen’s family to see him in this state and to have to make the decision to auction off his beloved car collection. I think it’s amazing that despite his illness, Palmen was able to amass such an impressive collection of cars over the years. It just goes to show that you can never predict what life will throw your way.

  5. I have never been a huge car enthusiast, but even I was impressed by this collection. It is amazing that one man was able to accumulate so many classic cars over the span of 40 years. I can only imagine how much money he must have spent on this hobby. I am also curious about how he was able to keep all of these cars in such pristine condition. It is a shame that we may never know the full story behind this collection, but it is still amazing to see.
