Grab Your Chance to Own a Piece of Rally-Inspired History with the Classic Ford Escort RS Cosworth on Auction!

An auction for a classic 1995 Ford Escort RS Cosworth with only 39,300 miles on the clock has begun, with a guide price of £40,000 to £50,000. This UK-supplied, right-hand drive car is finished in Imperial Blue and has remained in long-term ownership since 1999. It received a complete belt service in 2018, but the seller left the country in the following year, keeping the RS garaged until recently when it received a new battery and has now been made ready for sale. The car is mechanically unchanged, with only uprated silicone coolant pipes, a replacement blow-off valve, and AP Racing brakes with EBC Green Stuff brake pads. The external appearance remains standard, with six-spoke Rondell alloys fitted close to when it was new. The owner has to sell this classic car because of frequent traveling, which makes it impossible to use. Ford launched the Escort RS Cosworth in 1992 as a “homologation special” to ensure success in International Rallying. The first 2,500 vehicles, also known as “homologation specials”, were built until May 1994 and experienced turbo-lag. However, the following 4,500 vehicles significantly improved with a smaller Garrett T25 Turbo and increased power by more than 10% over the Sierra RS Cosworth, producing 227bhp. The auction is conducted by Silverstone Auctions on Saturday, May 20th. A rare 70-year-old deluxe “shooting brake” car has emerged for sale, with an estimated value of £40,000 while a rare mini abandoned in a shed for decades sold at auction for over £52,000.

  1. I don’t have any personal experience with this particular model of car, but I do remember seeing them around when I was younger. My dad was a big fan of Ford Escorts and we had a few of them over the years. I remember being really excited when he brought home an RS Cosworth, it was such a cool looking car. I’m sure the lucky buyer of this car will enjoy it for many years to come.
