GM recently unveiled the range estimations for its 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, including both body styles of the loaded 3X trim.
One of the models of the so-called supertruck might go up to 355 miles on a single charge, which is a testament to how much impact tires can have on EV range.
The 3X model’s 22-inch wheels and 35-inch All-Terrain tires are a better pick for those who seldom plan to take advantage of this model’s off-road prowess. The usage of these tires helps achieve GM’s estimated 355 miles on the 205-kwh battery pack, which weighs nearly 3,000 pounds alone.

When fitted with the Extreme Off-Road Package, both models retain the 329-mile estimate of the Edition 1, which includes the 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Mud-Terrain tires.
The launch edition version of the Hummer EV Pickup will continue, while the 3X offers more customization.
The SUV, with its 170-kwh battery pack, achieves 314 miles in its Edition 1 launch edition, or 298 miles with the Extreme Off-Road Package, riding on 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Mud-Terrain tires.
2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1
The Hummer EV Pickup, with its curb weight of over 9,000 pounds, is disqualified as a passenger vehicle or light truck according to EPA regulations, and thus, its range cannot be compared with other light-duty vehicles. The cutoff for light-duty emissions (and range testing) is a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds, and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup hits that scale at 10,660 pounds.
GM has submitted EPA test paperwork to California’s Air Resource Board (CARB) with the Hummer EV’s subsequent guises in mind. In its Edition 1 or 3X guise, the Hummer EV isn’t a light-duty truck. However, it will be categorized as one in future guises scheduled for the 2025 model year or later.
The EV Pickup can gain 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes on a 350-kw CCS DC fast charger, and the EV SUV can gain 100 miles in 14 minutes. Both versions of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV gain vehicle-to-load power generation through GMC’s Power Station generator—allowing it to charge other EVs at 6 kw or to provide up to 25 amps of output at either 120 volts or 240 volts.

The EV Pickup’s battery pack can be connected in tandem for 800-volt fast charging, making the battery capacity figure a little tricky. According to GM, the largest battery pack of the Hummer EV Pickup rates at 205 kwh based on IEC standards or 213 kwh based on ISO standards. For the EV SUV, the company has only given a capacity of 170 kwh based on the lower IEC standard.

I’m definitely interested in seeing this SUV in person and maybe even taking one for a test drive.
