Arnold Clark to set up 500 electric charging points at dealership locations.

Arnold Clark aims to spend £23m to establish 500 electric vehicle charging points nationwide. Arnold Clark Charge network will be available for booking 24/7 for customers, and will consist of eight rapid chargers in larger branches and four to six rapid chargers in smaller ones.

Arnold Clark customers will have the benefit of preferential rates and secure charging, which would eliminate “range anxiety” when owning an electric vehicle, according to CEO Eddie Hawthorne. The company has just acquired Scottish-based EV chargepoint installation business, Bumblebee, who would fit charging points for households and businesses. Hawthorne believes this move, including its purchase of the world’s first modular EV charging point, will make the company one of the largest independent infrastructural suppliers in the market.
