Lamborghini’s debut electric vehicle is still a few years from production, but one company executive has revealed some new details about the upcoming EV.
During an interview with Motor Authority on Tuesday ahead of the 2023 New York Auto Show, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini stated that the Lamborghini electric car will have a minimum driving range of 300 miles and “comfortable” rear seating.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman earlier confirmed the car will be a 2+2 Grand Tourer, but Foschini declined to provide further details.
Foschini noted that customers need a minimum range of just over 300 miles for a full electric vehicle, and the specific range will depend on the driving mode. He added that buyers want long-distance travel confidence.
The Lamborghini executive team remains concerned about limited access to charging infrastructure and slow charging speeds, leading the company to wait for other companies to address these issues. Consequently, the car’s production will begin in five years.
Foschini also stated that the EV will be a practical car that satisfies customers who are looking for high-performance vehicle comfort. After purchasing a supercar like the Revuelto plug-in hybrid, buyers will look for a more practical vehicle, which is where the electric GT triumphs, he said.
Foschini cautioned that while the rear seat will not be as spacious as the front, it will be suitable for an adult male, which is unusual among 2+2 models, which often feature impractical seats for large adults.
Foschini stated that the driving experience of the Lamborghini electric car will mirror that of its other vehicles, with a similar front seating position and a familiar “driving feeling.” However, he refused to elaborate further on how they would replicate the experience provided by the company’s combustion engines.
