Freddie Mercury’s Rolls-Royce fetches nearly ten times its estimated value at auction, with all the proceeds being donated to charity.

A 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that was owned by the famous frontman Freddie Mercury has exceeded its original estimate at auction. The singer cherished the car, which he owned from 1979 until his passing, for over a decade. The car was sold as part of an RM Sotheby’s London Sale auction on 7th November and was expected to fetch up to £30,000. However, it ended up selling for a whopping £286,250, almost 10 times its estimate. Although Silver Shadows are not the most collectable Rolls-Royce models, Freddie’s was in a class of its own. The car comes in its original colours inside and out, and all proceeds from the sale will go to the charity Superhumans Center, which provides aid in Ukraine. The car was believed to be Freddie’s personal chauffeur-driven transport, and after his death, it was passed on to his sister Kashmira Cooke. The car’s celebrity ownership is verified by a letter from Jim Beach, the long-time band manager of Queen, and various garage invoices with Freddie’s name on them.
