Lookers plans to open its multi-franchise used car offering Lookers Car Hub in Middlesbrough in Q4 2023, as COO Duncan McPhee revealed. The site will feature EV charging through 650KW superchargers and an EV experience centre for electric vehicle education. The site will also offer multi-brand servicing and repair as well as cosmetic repair. McPhee added that the new venture aligns with the Group’s focus on “buy, fix, recharge and learn” and its investment in EV infrastructure and education. The Group is focusing on EVs ahead of the incoming ICE ban in 2030 that will affect new vehicles. McPhee said that it has to be a focus and that the new electric vehicle brands will be important to capitalize on the growing market opportunity.
