Land Rover has given the Range Rover Sport a makeover for 2023, and its high-performance variant developed by the SVO special projects group is set to launch soon. The launch is due on May 31, and this time the SUV will sport an SV badge, replacing the previous SVR designation. A new prototype of the car has been spotted testing at Nürburgring, and we have the latest footage of it.
The previous Range Rover Sport SVR was famous for its luxurious feel and track capability, which meant it was not just fast but also comfortable. The new Range Rover SV is expected to be even better in those aspects. The new model has additional intakes in the front fascia, a diffuser in the rear fascia housing exhaust tips on both sides, and larger brake rotors and calipers that can almost fill the wheels.
The redesigned Range Rover Sport will be built on the MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) platform of JLR (formerly Jaguar Land Rover), which can accommodate both electric and internal-combustion powertrains. This platform is lighter than D7, its predecessor, which is expected to enhance the performance of the Range Rover Sport SV. The high-performance car might use the BMW-sourced twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine that generates 523 hp in the regular Range Rover Sport. It is expected to have close to or even more than 600 hp in the SV version. The earlier Range Rover Sport SVR used the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine that generated 575 hp.

Along with the powerful engine, the Range Rover Sport SV is expected to have a tuned transmission, suspension, and anti-roll system to deliver an exceptional driving experience. It is expected to arrive as a 2024 model and will be offered by invitation only, which hints at a possible sticker price close to or exceeding the $142,950 of the previous Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate Edition, which was the final special edition of the previous generation that was introduced in 2021.
