The 2024 BMW XM Unveils in Red with a 738 hp Label.

BMW’s XM performance SUV was unveiled last September to celebrate 50 years of BMW M. Now, a more powerful version has been launched – the XM Label Red. With a hybrid V-8 powertrain, it boasts an impressive 738 hp. This makes it the most powerful road-going vehicle that has ever been released by BMW M – a significant upgrade from the standard XM that offers 644 hp.

The XM Label Red is estimated to achieve a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph as standard. But with the available M Driver’s Package, this increases to 175 mph.

All XM models feature a plug-in hybrid system that utilises a newly-developed twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine. The engine is integrated with a single electric motor that powers the eight-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is also driven by a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system, which features a 19.2-kwh battery pack capable of achieving around 30 miles of electrified range. In electric mode, peak output is 194 hp, and the vehicle has a unique audio system created by acclaimed film score composer, Hans Zimmer.

In addition to boosting performance, the XM Label Red also incorporates model-specific features. These include unique paint, wheels (23-inch standard) and trim. The exterior design is distinguished by the liberal use of red accents, which is also reflected in the interior design. The XM Label Red comes with a headliner featuring a three-dimensional surface and a dash accent strip. The strip is finished in a carbon-fiber satin with red and blue accents – the colors of BMW M.

The XM Label Red offers a host of performance options that come as standard, including adaptive dampers, active roll bars, and rear-wheel steering. Many of the XM’s driver-assist features are also included, such as BMW’s Highway Assistant, which offers hands-free driving up to speeds of 85 mph on limited-access highways.

The BMW XM Label Red will be formally unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai auto show in August. Production is set to begin in August at BMW Group’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with showrooms expected to receive the new model in the fall. BMW has not yet released pricing details, but has hinted that the starting price for the XM Label Red will be around $185,995, with the regular XM starting at $159,995.
