The press preview for the IAA took place on 6 September, with various car brands showcasing their global debuts. BMW featured two debuts, with the iX5 Hydrogen SUV set to go into limited production in late 2022, and the i Vision Circular concept, demonstrating BMW’s view of sustainable urban mobility in 2040. Cupra unveiled its UrbanRebel Concept, an electric performance car expected to be released in 2025. Daimler showcased the smart Concept #1, a preview of an electric SUV, and the Mercedes-Benz EQE electric sedan and Concept EQG, a future electric G-Class. Mercedes-Maybach introduced the Concept EQS, a four-seat electric SUV, while Mercedes-AMG displayed its first PHEV, the GT 63 S E Performance, and the EV EQS 53 4MATIC+. HMG Hyundai revealed prototypes of the Ioniq 5 robotaxi, while Kia premiered the Sportage plug-in hybrid. Micro Mobility showcased the Microlino 2.0, an electric city car that can be parked sideways with entry via the front-hinged door. Porsche presented the Mission R concept, an environmentally friendly EV race car made partially from NFRP, while Renault Group introduced the Dacia Jogger, replacing the Logan MCV, and showcased the Mobilize Limo as a prototype. The group also unveiled the Megane E-Tech, a fifth-generation EV to be produced at Douai. Volkswagen AG premiered the Audi grandsphere concept, expected to be the next A8, and showcased the ID.5 GTX SUV-coupé, a near-production concept, and the ID.Life concept, an affordable small EV set for production in 2025. Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge/Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles unveiled the ID. Buzz AD, a self-driving system JV with Argo AI.
